Emily Bowen Cohen creates comics that explore intersectional identity. She is Jewish and a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. She uses personal experience to tell stories that examine contemporary American and Jewish culture.
Jewish Federation of Orange County, serving as the regional ambassador, exists to amplify Jewish life and sustain the Jewish future in Orange County, Israel, and globally. Federation's Teen Engagement & Wellness Initiative is a multi-year investment to incubate and strengthen Jewish tween & teen programs in Orange County. It impacted 490 youth through $240,000 of grant funding supporting six community programs in its first year. These meaningful programs range from mental wellness retreats to helping teens integrate on college campuses. This investment continues to make a significant difference in addressing critical challenges faced by our teens:
Engagement: Tackling the perpetual challenge of teens opting out of Jewish life during their tween and teen years.
Holistic Wellness Support: Recognizing the need for comprehensive wellness resources, we've provided mental health assistance and personal coaching to our local Jewish teen professionals. We want to ensure they can guide and support teens through a Jewish lens, addressing their well-being on multiple levels.
Emily Bowen Cohen's box highlights Jewish Federation of Orange County's importance and support for our youth. It will be on view at the Merage JCC acting as the host for Cohen’s box for the duration of Be the Change.
